Mandate states to prohibits companies from screening job applicants for Misdemeanors.

Created by U.R. on February 01, 2014

Many college graduates and employment seekers are unfairly being denied the right to meaningful employment due having petty criminal records. Students recently graduating from colleges with significant amount of student debt would find it harder to seek employment within their field of degree and lead to more students defaulting on their loans. With an estimated 20% of the American population having some kind of record, we are essentially holding back a substantial percentage of our people from achieving a productive and meaningful life. Thus these individual are not contributing back to society with their full potential. Therefore we petition the government of the United States to mandate that states prohibit employers from requiring applicants from disclosing any misdemeanor record.
