Mandate the US Military accept enlistment , officer candidates, and reservists through the current DoD 42 year age limit

Currently, each branch of the military sets the minimum and maximum age for enlistment, reservists, and officer candidates. DoD rules allow for a maximum age with no prior military service at 42 years old to start a military career. No branch currently observes this upper limit, and the current highest age to begin such a career is 39--which was raised by the Air Force this year.
The military is streamlining at this point, but there are older candidates out there that have the life experience, skills, and maturity to contribute and serve as patriots. Granted, this might be an untapped niche, but there are folks who wish to serve, who need to find engaging jobs, who might not have had the opportunity in earlier life due to family obligations or even prohibition under rules such as DADT.
