Children today are so academically driven and pressured that they need a creative outlet. The performing arts can be the perfect stress-relieving activity. But unfortunately, in today's economy, when schools begin having money issues their performing and visual arts classes are the first to go. This is a tragedy because the arts provide so many important skills that all students need. They teach discipline, both physical and mental. They develop fine motor skills as well as music and art appreciation. Performing also has proven to aid the development of public speaking and presentation skills. This can help with everything from school projects to job interviews, and even all around self confidence. Arts are vital to our children's development, so we must demand that all schools provide it.
