Given the grave power and responsibilities entrusted to our elected officials and those appointed by then, it is of the utmost importance that they be honest, sober, and of upright character. Therefore, to avoid even the appearance of weak moral character, such officials should be should be, at their own expense, subjected to drug testing on a regular basis.
Our Republic is owed the best we can find. If people seek the honor of office, we should have some way of insuring that we get the best. This would be one measure.
