Public servants may experience great distress in the line of public duty but often lack adequate access to proactive, trauma-informed, evidence-based mental health support. This poses a threat to the lives of American civilians who interact with law enforcement personnel and other public servants performing their duties under extreme daily stress. Please require law enforcement agencies to make available ongoing, evidence-based mental health therapy for all personnel in order to receive any federal funding. For our safety, we must identify police, dispatchers, and other life-entrusted workers who are silently struggling with normal psychological disturbances and support them with the tools and resources necessary to be healthy and well-equipped to serve and protect the American people.
