Mandatory Liability Insurance for Gun Owners

Owning guns is guaranteed by our Constitution, so all attempts to regulate it fail. Therefore, I propose that we focus instead on the annual cost of gun-related death and injury in the US, which is $235 billion per year. With 324 million citizens, and 300 million guns, this is a cost of $725 per year to every man, woman and child in the U.S., paid by all in the form of higher taxes & insurance costs. By contrast, the cost of uninsured drivers in the U.S is down to $2.6 billion dollars a year. While the 1/3 of Americans who own guns have that right, they should not force the other 2/3 of us to pay all the costs associated with them. Therefore, I propose that all gun owners be required to carry liability insurance sufficient to cover the costs associated with their guns.
