Several times this year, we have seen judges hand out light sentences following a rape conviction. The reason given is to not adversely effect the man's life, especially if he's an athlete. Rape has lifelong affects on the victim. Survivors deserve justice. That experience will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Letting these criminals walk after just a few months sends the message that rape isn't a big deal. 1/5 women in this country have been assaulted. Those women deserve justice. Rapists deserve years in prison.
