Marijuana should be rescheduled from a schedule I to a Schedule III drug permitting more medical research

Marijuana has been a Schedule I drug since drugs were first scheduled. According to the US Dept. of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration Office of Diversion Control Schedule I means Substances in this schedule have a high potential for abuse, have no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and there is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.
We know that marijuana does have medical uses as it has been used to treat many illnesses and diseases world wide.
Schedule III drugs are as follows: have a potential for abuse less than substances in schedules I or II and abuse may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence. Once it is rescheduled more research will be permitted.
