The war in Afghanistan was a result of the 9/11 attacks, no? The total death count for 9/11 2,819. Whilst that is a huge, terrible number of deaths, it pales in comparison with the war in Afghanistan, (NOTE: I am only including deaths from Afghanistan, not the War on Terror as a whole) which is closer to 141,000 (That is only Civilian deaths, that does not include the countless American soldiers who will never see their mothers again).
The cost of the war in Afghanistan, since it's start, was 1.29 TRILLION tax payer dollars, at the end of the most recent fiscal year. This must contribute hugely to the national debt crisis. The money would be put to better use by funding non-ignorant and good education, or intelligent counter-terrorism, which would stop terror attacks before they happen.
