Mass shooters should not have their name, photo, or manifesto reported. This will remove their incentive to gain fame.

This petition seeks to prevent reporting of personal details of mass shooters for the cause of public safety. It does not seek to prevent reporting of the crime itself.

It is an unfortunate reality that each one of these people is encouraged by the previous event, and each event provides these people their 15 minutes of terrible fame at the cost of innocent lives.

We must do everything we can to reduce their incentive for fame-gaining in a responsible manner. It does not seek to ban reporting on the issue, but it does seek to inhibit the fame-seeking elements of these crimes via media reporting.
