It is everyone's right to privacy. Also each country's sovereignity. If US govt don't acquit the whistle blowers, then all I can say is it is setting the biggest example of "Might is right". If such is the ideology then the govt should go public about thererof. Infact what the govt can do to restore its image is to award Snowden with higest honours for protecting the right to privacy according to The first Amendment.
