Our House Representatives and our Senators are supposed to be representative of their constituents. When they are living far beyond that of the people they are meant to represent, they are no longer a true representation. By allowing these elected officials to understand what their neighbors are facing on a day to day basis, they must see it with their own eyes. People across the country experienced huge reductions in pay and hours since 2008 with no relief in site. It is time we level the playing field for those who are meant to stand up for our rights and help them to once again see that the people who vote for them are the people they should be fighting for. The American people should have the right to pay our leaders based on performance, just as we are in our own occupations.
