Maternity leave

Created by A.B. on November 16, 2012

USA is the only industrialized country that doesn't have a paid maternity leave. The first months are crucial when it comes to bonding between a mother and her newborn baby. Appropriate rest after delivery is essential for the well being of a woman.
The last month of pregnancy should be spent only to prepare for the new arrival and for self care to ensure a healthy labor and delivery.
No woman should be afraid to loose her job because she's pregnant or because she just had a baby.
I ask to consider a minimum maternity leave of one month prior the due date and 3 months after deliver with full pay and to have her job guaranteed for 1 year after delivery.
