As a matter of public safety and national defense, exempt gun owner registries from Freedom of Information Act access.

While the second amendment protects the right of Americans to defend ourselves, even more importantly, it protects our nation by having armed population act as a deterrent and protect our republic from tyranny, and allows for creation of instantaneous resistance in an event of an invasion. World history has demonstrated that registries of gun owners have been misused by tyrants and invaders to identify and persecute legitimate gun owners. Security of information contained in registries of licensed gun owners at all levels of government, as such information identifies the means to the last line of our national defense. As a matter of national security, any such lists and registries must be exempt from public access under the Freedom of Information Act.
