As a means of curbing violence and promoting meaningful discussion, the Fairness Doctrine should be re-instated.

Created by C.S. on December 18, 2012

Re-institute the Fairness Doctrine. Since its demise, and the expansion of technology and media, more concentrated and caustic speech has been promoted. Most sides of any controversial issue are at fault for not reasonably providing balance discussions and a venue and opportunity to rebuke allegations.

This has contributed to our current state of affairs where Americans are not recognizing ourselves as Americans, but as our political leanings. The echo chambers that exist do not provide reality testing of ideas, though reinforce mistrust and lack of understanding.

Since the topic of gun control has reared, this could not be more evident. The US needs venues where we can communicate to one another and disagree civilly.
