MEDICARE/MEDICAID ONLY PAYS FOR GENETIC TESTING IF A PATIENT ALREADY HAS A CANCER DIAGNOSIS, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS!

Created by C.T. on June 14, 2016

Medicare/Medicaid refuses to cover genetic testing unless patients already have cancer diagnosis which defeats the purpose of genetic testing in the first place. If genetic testing reveals a woman is positive for breast cancer then she can opt for breast removal. The cost is $4000 which is also ridiculous but not surprising considering the culture of greed pervasive in the US healthcare industry. What good are advances in medical technology if only the wealthy can avail themselves?I have a https://www.gofundme.com/295j3wc but thus far yields nothing. My healthcare providers agree I should be tested but facilities and labs I have contacted refuse to allow charity care to cover genetic testing. And all persons of Ashkenazi ancestry are at high cancer risk and should not be denied genetic testing.
