The People’s Democratic Party had been elected to power with the hope that Kashmiris will reap the fruits of change and get a sense of empowerment after the devastating performance by Omar Abdullah. However, that hope has been dashed. The alliance with the right wing BJP fully backed by some of the most rabid elements in Hindu society has proved to be a disaster. The deaths, blindings and injuries to Kashmiri civilians in the last two months have established beyond doubt that the hope for change through PDP has been destroyed. This petition seeks immediate resignation of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as a gesture of moral responsibility for the torture and humiliation of people who had chosen her to be the Chief Minister.
