On January 28th, 1986 the world watched aghast as the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger departed the Earth and remained forever emblazoned in the crystal blue sky above Cape Canaveral. And while the loss off the crew has hung around the hearts of all who watched that fateful day, one brave American was unduly burdened with a weight that was not his to bear alone. Bob Ebeling, boldly stood to fight the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, risking all he had in an attempt to prevent the launch and save the crew. And for far too long the United States has let this hero languish in obscurity. It is long past time that we held this man and his unwavering integrity in the highest esteem by erecting a monument in his name.
