How does a lake full of people, in and out of the water, celebrating the Fourth of July, let a 16 year old boy drowned in plain sight? I haven't quite found the answer, but if you do, it would be gladly appreciated--How many drownings have you heard of? In a statistics poll, around 3,308 just in the U.S. An average of 9 people per day and that was recorded by CDC in 2006. It's 2013. Do you think the poll raised or fell? It raised. Only 19% of all drownings, lifeguards were present and weren't able to rescue. That leaves us with 81% of all other drownings that lifeguards weren't present. If we had lifeguards stationed at every body of water open to the public, how many lives do you think we could have saved or attempted to save? Lifeguards aren't 100%, but could be an answer to our 81%.
