Mental Illness and the process of dealing with follow through, and continuing to follow up with Mental Health priority

Created by K.M. on December 14, 2012

I believe strongly that our system does not continue to support and get help for the mentally ill before a tragedy like the shooting today occurs. Yes, I believe we need gun control and tighter laws. But there will always be a way to get a weapon, including a gun.

Dealing with PTSD and major mental illness is key to the health and safety of everyone. It always seems to be downplayed as a secondary issue. But, when there is a red flag, like war trauma, or mental illness diagnosis, or a mental health professional mandated report, there needs to be a stronger response required and a better follow up process in our health care system.
