We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Mercy to an American island. We are on the XXI century.

Created by K.C. on May 11, 2016

On 1920 there was a law approved that is one of the largest stone that are drowning the economy of Puerto Rico, the Cabotage Law, aka the Jones Act. This law restricts the island to receive shipments only from the mainland, and make us pay up to 200% more on imported products. I, as an American Citizen, would like to ask for the partial, or total, elimination of the Cabotage Law to help the American Citizens of Puerto Rico to be able to pay the $72Billion USD. Debt that can't be paid on the present conditions.
