Merge Labor and Education

Created by D.R. on December 10, 2011

Merge the Departments of Education and Labor into a single organization responsible for the process of tracking the nation's labor requirements and preparing people for work. The government spends billions of dollars on K-12 education to graduate students with no job skills and passes out billions for college educational assistance in pell grants. Meanwhile, college students graduate with low demand degrees and untold numbers of technical jobs have no candidates. Merging the departments would create an environment where discussion of jobs and skilled workers takes place in conjunction with the discussion of how to spend tax dollars to educate people. Make one person responsible for both sides of the issue of training youth and employing them while reducing administrative staffs.
