In 1993, the U.S. Army ordered a prohibition of military personnel to carry personal firearms on military installations at the possiblity that an attack could cause major damage. Twenty years laters, we have seen two attacks on military installations with deadly consequences. It is time to repeal this order. Military members that meet certain requirements should be allowed carry personal weapons for self defense purposes on military installations. These requirements should be at the commander's approval. The potential carrier should meet the state requirements that there base is located in. This involves getting a concealed carry license, go through a background check, and personal interview. Once accomplished, the carrier should be allowed to carry a self defense weapon on base.
