Without the out of control spending created by the Republican controlled Congress during the Bush administration, the unfunded wars and the Bush tax cuts we would still have the Clinton surplus.
It is an extraordinary accomplishment for the so called party of fiscal conservatism to have destroyed the stability of the US economy as they have over the last decade and a half.
I propose, so that we may honor this accomplishment, that President Obama order the FED to mint the $1 trillion dollar coin and put either President George W. Bush or Speaker of the House John Boehner's face on the coin. In this way we will ensure no one forgets why we needed to create the coin in the first place.
