Many schools across the nation are badly in need of repair or replacement. Outmoded infrastructure cannot be upgraded because there are no available funds to speak of. School districts and university systems routinely solicit bonds and private donations simply to afford basic operations and maintenance.
The wages of teachers and professors are absymal. We have made it difficult, sometimes impossible, for educators to live off their paychecks. Even the most selfless educators are being beaten down by out-of-control rent and ever-increasing costs of living.
Higher-education has become prohibitively expensive. Even 1% of the money we put into defense could vastly improve circumstances for both students and educators.
Please create a permanent education fund that addresses these issues.
