Modernize Military Hair Regulations to Accommodate Women with Naturally Afro Hair

Created by E.W. on May 02, 2013

"As long as the hair is clean, meets acceptable lengths with regards to uniforms and headgear fittings, has a natural hue, is not accompanied by elaborate colorful adornments, and otherwise is not arranged in an ...uncommon pattern or structure... it should not be considered unprofessional, unkempt or out of regulation."

The above statement was perfectly summarized by Jaye L. from Austin, TX after signing the Rally for Congress Open Letter to stop naturally afro hair discrimination in the US Military. This is not about race but recognition. The same recognition afforded to our gay service members who now can openly embrace their loved ones and women who wish to fight and pay the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

Natural styles (locs, twists, etc.) are also due fair recognition.
