Modify the current Romeo and Juliet Law concerning sexual offenses.

Created by S.L. on November 02, 2012

Under current statutes, the Romeo and Juliet clause is in place to protect teenagers from being labeled as sexual preditors/offenders. I feel that it needs modified. States differ in the way this is used. Florida states an age group and that the teens must be no more than 4yrs apart. The bottom line is that this law was set up to protect teenagers in cases where they were involved in consensual sexual activity. I understand there is a need to charge an individual for sexual activity that is unlawful. The issue lies with labeling a young person in cases not involved in forced or violent behavior. This law is to protect individuals that do not pose a threat to society. We need to modify the law and use it for the reason it exists!
