Modify the Federal calendar to reflect a January Thanksgiving recognition date.

Created by S.H. on February 11, 2013

This Petition requests modifying the Federal calendar to reflect a late January recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. To many Americans, Thanksgiving is the most important holiday of the year. It brings together family and is not focused on materiality. However, due to other holidays (and black Fridays), the holiday is hardly anticipated and quickly forgotten. By moving the holiday to late January, the Christmas season may be extended and Thanksgiving will not be buried as it is. Thanksgiving events may be held and the true memory of the holiday may be further appreciated.
