Modify the Florida Standards Assessment Writing Test.

Created by D.E. on January 12, 2015

The Florida Standard Assessment (FSA) 8th Grade Writing Test needs reform. While a usual eighth Grade essay is 400-600 words, the FSA Writing test has a minimum of 1500 words. The test doesn't have a word counter built in so the only way to keep track of words is to count them manually, which will take up much of the limited 120 minutes that students have to complete the essay. The students will be given three articles to read and respond to in the essay. Reading these three articles will, again, take up too much time out of the writing portion of the essay. Another problem with the three articles is reading stamina. Most eighth grade students aren't told to sit down, be silent, and read three articles in rapid succession. I want a shorter test, a word counter, and less articles. Thank you
