modify the Food Stamps program so that only basic staples can be purchased.

Created by G.K. on January 05, 2013

People on Food Stamps have no business eating junk food or buying expensive or gourmet items! While America should be sensitive to the needs of those who are truly hungry, almost everyone has had the experience of standing in a grocery line behind someone who was using Food Stamps to purchase either junk food or high-end food like steaks. The Food Stamp program needs to be modified, so that only staples and no junk food, may be purchased. Restrictions should also be placed on high-cost or gourmet items. From the USDA website, "Soft drinks, candy, cookies, snack crackers, and ice cream are food items and are therefore eligible items." Rice, beans, hamburger, vegetables, okay! But this other stuff is only encouraging people to eat unhealthy, waste, and remain on the program indefinitely.
