This petition is in reaction to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. We, the American people, owe it to the families of these victims to enforce reform. Practical and small-scale ideas can complement gun reform. Ideas include:
1) Reinforcing the classroom doors by placing a 1/2” to 5/8” thick steel plate inside the door, making the door window of bullet proof glass, (or have a strong reinforced mesh wire in the window), moving the window of the door to head-level so one cannot reach the handle from the inside if the window is smashed, and putting at least one deadbolt on the door (THIS APPLIES TO CLASSROOM DOORS ONLY for practicality and expense purposes).
2) Completely modifying the huddle-lock-down method in schools.
3) Intensifying visitor rules
