Currently Citizens who are on medications for disorders like depression are barred from military service. This outright ban prevents citizens from serving who could provide valuable contributions to our nations security. Potential military candidates who can provide or pass a psych evaluation that clears them for military service while on medication should be allowed to serve.
While certain MOS's may not be ideal for such candidates there are many positions in which these people may be able to excel and provide valuable support to our nations security.
The current rule that candidates who discontinue the use of these medications for 12 months does not address the underlying issue and is risky to the health and safety of the candidate as well as their potential comrades.
