Modify The Presumed Fathers Act. There are flaws in the way states carry out this legislation & it needs a review now.

Created by E.P. on May 14, 2012

The Presumed Fathers Act, Under the Child Support Enforcement Act of 1984;needs to be modified. Why should someone be MANDATED to pay for a child if they are not biologically theirs? Economically it is hurting men during difficult times; if they don't pay it's jail resulting in arrears debt. And if they do pay, a risk of garnishments, foreclosures all while having resentment towards the child that's not biologically theirs. Let this be an option for the father to WANT to take care of the child. Otherwise CHARGE the biological parent who made him/her. Recently estoppel cases have been tried in the Supreme Courts but rarely won due to this legislation It's time to modify this NOW! The Act has not been modified since 1984 & with today's societal differences the Government must do what is right
