We recognize the political opposition with full Smart Gun technology. We recognize these issues will delay and possibly prevent truly effective gun control. We recognize that due to the ubiquitous presence of firearms in the US, further “herding cats” gun regulation is meaningless.
The goal is to quickly create effective low-cost, non-intrusive detection in predefined areas that can pass political and logistical hurdles.
This petition proposes, in the short term, gun-free zone enforcement utilizing passive zone-wide detection technology - something like RFID detectors. New systems can be used to monitor and warn in schools, courts, sporting and family venues. This petition also supports creating options for firearm trade-in, confiscation and retro-fit.
