In a election for a government position, a none of the above option provides a check for the people to say that the candidates running are not fit for office. A plurality of none of the above votes would trigger a new special election for the position where the previous candidates are barred from running for the office. This mechanism would provide the people with a real option to voice their dissent to the people running for office.
