The Montebello Trench

Created by N.T. on February 02, 2013

The City of Montebello (C.O.M), CA 90640 with a population of 62,500 (U.S. Census) and 38 trains per day (U.S. DOT) has 4 at grade crossings. The Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) right of way is within close proximity of the Los Angeles Intermodal Facility (Hobart). Trains over a mile long cut our city in half, block Police, Fire, and Ambulatory vehicles 38 times a day. Our community has lost sleep, and the right to enjoyment of property. A full lowering of the UPRR tracks (The Montebello Trench) will lower the railroad tracks at four at grade crossings eliminating horn blowing, traffic congestion and protect human life. The Montebello Trench (T.M.T) is supported by C.O.M., C.P.U.C, M.U.S.D, M.V.H.A, and the residential and business community. This petition supports the funding of the T.MT.
