Right now Unemployment rates are measured through who is currently drawing Unemployment Benefits. In this economy, that has an unacceptable affect on the numbers.
There are many people who are unable to find jobs but are inelligible for Unemployment Benefits for one reason or another. Some people haven't worked enough in the last year. Some people have already run out of their Unemployment Benefit and have been unable to find work. These people are excluded from the official Unemployment rates.
In order to truly know how high the Unemployment in this country is, we need to find a more accurate way of measuring this.
