Mortgage Crisis in NewJersey. Why NJ Mortgage Companies choose to foreclose minority homes rather than offer modification

Created by N.O. on July 29, 2016

Minority home owners are being evicted from the State of New Jersey. I can afford my mortgage but due to a job loss and a 3-4 month lapse till I found employment, my mortgage company has refused any modification. I work as a periodontist, and a few years ago my savings were depleted from a back injury. I have sent tax returns and pay stubs that show I am earning over $100000 per year and can resume payments, instead they have sent letters to the department of banking that they are foreclosing because I cannot pay my mortgage. They also started the process before the mortgage was 2 months in arrears.
