Move Election Day from the Tuesday after the first Monday in November to the weekend.

Created by J.F. on January 23, 2013

The current system is flawed. The Tuesday after the first Monday is an arbitrary date assignment. It was selected so that Americans on horse and buggy didn't have to travel to polling stations on the Sabbath. These stations could be as much as a day's journey away.

Today, it is difficult for working families to participate in our most patriotic duties. Voting on the weekend will increase voter turnout, and offer a better picture of how the nation feels about issues and its representatives.
