This petition is to move the federal observance of President's Day from the 3rd Monday in February, to the first Monday that follows a Sunday in February. The motivation for this move is to allow families and working Americans to have the opportunity for a 3-day weekend during the Super Bowl. Currently, the Super Bowl is the most watched television broadcast in the United States each year. According to the 2014 Gravity Six Alliance study, 72 percent of U.S. adults plan to watch Super Bowl XLVIII. In comparison, according to a CivicScience poll, 79 percent of U.S. adults attended some type of Thanksgiving gathering or party. Moving President's Day allows for Americans to enjoy this experience with family & friends without the strains of travel on a Sunday night.
