Move federal workers to Detroit.

Created by J.M. on July 20, 2013

Moving some of the 2.7 million federal workers to Detroit would help revitalize and combat blight within the city. Office space and cost of living in Detroit are significantly lower than in the East or West coast where the majority of federal workers currently reside.

This proposal would likely require initial investments in worker incentives and public services to make it viable, however it offers the city of Detroit the opportunity for long-term stability, in contrast to the federal government's alternatives like a large-scale bailout.

Original idea credited to "Six crazy ideas for saving Detroit," by Lydia DePillis, Timothy B. Lee, and Dylan Matthews.
