In the 1970s, the Carter Administration took a decisive step toward energy independence and renewable resource use by installing solar panels on the White House grounds. These were removed by the Reagan Administration. Today, leadership in the area of Green Energy has become one of President Obama's most touted achievements. However, leading by example has fallen by the wayside. President Obama has repeatedly promised to reinstall solar panels at the White House and after a couple of years, we who care deeply about this issue would like to see action.
Though some may argue that such a step would only be symbolic, so was the removal of Carter's panels. Sometimes, symbols are important too. President Obama, please reinstall the solar panels.
