Vladimir Putin is presiding over the worst human rights crackdown in Russia since the Soviet era. Putin does not deserve to have the honor of hosting the G20 sumit while he remains recalcitrant and unresponsive to cries for justice from his own people and those around the world. Putin is responsible for numerous human rights abuses, including but not limited to:
- Banning the adoption of Russian orphans by American parents in retaliation to a law passed by Congress to punish human rights abusers
- Supporting the murderous Assad regime in Syria and frustrating attempts to reach a negotiated settlement
- Frequent and continual violent crackdowns on civil liberties and free speech
- Criminalizing homosexuality
- Systematic raids on foreign NGOs
