We feel that the administration should move to repeal the National Minimum Drinking Age law, which holds federal highway funds hostage from states that do not implement alcohol restrictions on those citizens under the age of 21.
Given the recent conclusion of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the ongoing Operation Enduring Freedom, where 26% of those wounded or killed were 21 or younger*, we find it disingenuous to consider these young men and women fully capable of waging war on one hand, while considering them too young to handle alcohol on the other.
We urge the president to work with congress to repeal this law and treat all adults equally, without a magical age before which a 12oz can is more dangerous than the barrel of a weapon. Thank you.
