Move Space Shuttle Enterprise to Chicago's Adler Planetarium

Created by J.H. on March 07, 2014

After the remaining four NASA space shuttles were decommissioned, twenty-one museums around America participated in an auction. The Adler Planetarium in Chicago, Illinois was one of the bidders but only received the flight simulator to train astronauts during the program. During 2012's devastating Hurricane Sandy, the Enterprise shuttle was damaged from high winds and the collapse of the balloon surrounding the orbiter. I believe the Enterprise should be in Chicago because A): the Adler is one of the most popular planetariums in the US and B): the Enterprise is named after the ship in "Star Trek" and two actors from the franchise were born in the Chicagoland area: Walter Koenig (Mr. Chekov) and Nichelle Nichols (Uhura). Sign here to move the Enterprise to the Windy City of Chicago!
