Twice per year we have our schedules thrown off as we switch between standard time and daylight savings time. This should be abolished, and a new system of year round DST should go into effect. Why DST over standard time?
1. The extra hour of daylight is much more useful in the evening, when more people are out and about after work and school hours to enjoy it, than it is in the morning. This is especially true during the winter months.
2. Year round standard time would equate to disgustingly early sunrises in the summer.
3. Energy demand is typically highest in the evening. The extra hour of winter evening light will cut down on energy consumption during this time.
We the undersigned call for a 2 year trial of year round DST, after which an option to be available to make it permanent.
