The Electoral College was created in 1787 as a system to elect the President and VP of the United States. It has worked over the years, however there have been multiple elections with questionable outcomes regarding the Electoral Votes. An example would be the 2000 election where the margin was so close that the actual outcome could have gone either way. If the plurality agrees on a candidate, that should be the elected candidate as the United States of America is a democracy.
