Mr. Obama, please make a statement regarding A.D.H.D. and its impact on those with the disorder and their families.

Created by P.M. on April 05, 2013

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a recognized neurological disorder occurring in 3-5% of school aged children and 3-5% of adults nation wide. Symptoms of this disorder include but are not limited to inattentiveness, impulsivity, hyperactivity, forgetfulness, tics, and an inability to regulate emotions appropriately.

A.D.H.D. may lead to poor performance in school, social isolation, problems with the law, poor performance at work, and underemployment.

There is a lot of misinformation going around about the disorder in our culture and this misinformation is hurtful and damaging to those with the disorder. Those of us who take medication are told that we are drug addicts, parents are seen as bad parents because of their child's A.D.H.D.

It is time for the stigma to end!
