The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, and The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act require food labels that bear nutrient content “claims” to have certain health messages in order to comply with specific requirements. It has been stated by many doctors that the “essential percentage” of daily nutrients cannot be obtained by eating food alone, and nutritional products are vital to obtain these percent daily values. We are capable of making informed decisions based on information provided that affect our personal lives without the need of gross intervention.
