The State of Kentucky jails individuals if they do not profess belief in God, tying this national security. A year in jail, or any repercussion whatsoever by a government agency, is clearly punitive, an unambiguous violation of the Constitutional First Amendment, the separation of church and state. It is not a crime to believe in a non-Christian God, or no God at all.
The government must take action to declare this measure unconstitutional and step up to enforce the First Amendment and send a clear signal that these efforts by religiously inclined individuals must cease for the greater good of the union.
